Welcome To Fifty Five Is The New!

Hello out there!
What's it to you, turning the age of Fifty-five? You don't have to be turning it tomorrow, you could have already turned that corner a while back. That part doesn't matter so much.
While it's important what one feels, what matters most of all that one feels, that one feels anything at all.
So, as an exercise in self-examination and a way of getting over an incredible writer's block, I submit this blog to the World Wide Web, and I submit myself to a bit of mirror gazing.
Inspired by the movie "Julie & Julia," I will blog for one year, which will include my turning fifty-five, and see what I find.
Who knows? Maybe fifty-five will be something fantastic...like the New Me.

Writing On The Wall

I'm re-reading "The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Attwood; food for thought when it comes to the idea that things like Sharia Law can't happen in the United States.  Anything is possible when we devalue our personal freedoms for the sake of political expediency.

I'm also recommending the book to anyone who cares to listen to my yammering.  "It's a cautionary tale," I tell them, "read and heed."  "Handmaid's" and "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand stand out as two very important works that should be reviewed by everyone on their way to the revolution; let's make sure which leaders we are following and where they intend to take us.

Such books help with figuring out these things.....if only we take the knowledge and work with it.

For today, Fifty Five is the New Writing On The Wall...."Handmaid's Tale" and "Atlas Shrugged;" It's time we do some heavy reading.
