Welcome To Fifty Five Is The New!

Hello out there!
What's it to you, turning the age of Fifty-five? You don't have to be turning it tomorrow, you could have already turned that corner a while back. That part doesn't matter so much.
While it's important what one feels, what matters most of all that one feels, that one feels anything at all.
So, as an exercise in self-examination and a way of getting over an incredible writer's block, I submit this blog to the World Wide Web, and I submit myself to a bit of mirror gazing.
Inspired by the movie "Julie & Julia," I will blog for one year, which will include my turning fifty-five, and see what I find.
Who knows? Maybe fifty-five will be something fantastic...like the New Me.

Being There

Golden Gate Park Bridge watercolor  by rcw
Fifty Five has been a learning experience so far.  Of course one could say that about any age...any day for that matter. But since we're on the subject of Fifty Five and it being the New, that's where my focus rests.

So what have I learned so far?
That being there is where it is.

Life isn't something one can truly savor sitting in front of a t.v. slogging a favorite beverage, but then again there are times when that's precisely what needs to happen.
Life isn't all about working one's fingers to the bloody bone only to fall over at the grind wheel one day, all 'alas poor Yorick.'  No, not about that either.

I am left to believe that there's a middle ground...a place in between ridiculous and sublime that actually fits what life is all about.  It's being present, in the moment...available to the opportunities and possibilities...open to the potentials both good and bad...willing to savor all the textures and flavors.

Anyway, that's what it feels like for today....
So Fifty Five Is the New Being There...because when it comes to living, there's no where else to be!

Thought Process

Crazy, Crazy, Crazy......What's going on here?
So much anger, so much hatred....people yelling and protesting....gathering in the streets to change their government.

We need to stop this; anger blinds people...anger combined with the crowd mentality is very, very dangerous.
I feel that the anger, honestly felt by the working class and the poor, is being manipulated and used by those with agendas that have little to do with protecting individual freedom.

I don't know what to do, when I express how I feel my opinions are not respected.  My liberal friends think I've been brainwashed by Glenn Beck or something.

I don't agree.  But then again, Mr. Beck does say some things that make a lot of sense. It's the true liberal who has an open enough mind to listen to all sides.  What does that say for those who insist there is only one way to think....theirs?!

For today, Fifty Five Is The New Thought Process....time to get it out of reverse and make it move ahead, while we still can.

10.10.10

Lunar Landscape Fractal  by rcw
Interesting date, October tenth, two thousand and ten....interesting enough to write it down.  Although I do have a question....October....root word "octo" means eight.  But looking at the calendar, it's the tenth month of the year...wha hoppin?

There's a lot of that sort of thing in human history; skewed dates, stretched facts, misnamed months.  Perhaps when the whole month notion first came about October was the eighth month.  Go figure.

Well, today's entry is going to be brief....running around like crazy as usual but wanted to get a thought or two down.

So for today, Fifty Five Is The New 10.10.10 ....and us crazy humans, dragging our misnamed history with us as we go.
