Welcome To Fifty Five Is The New!

Hello out there!
What's it to you, turning the age of Fifty-five? You don't have to be turning it tomorrow, you could have already turned that corner a while back. That part doesn't matter so much.
While it's important what one feels, what matters most of all that one feels, that one feels anything at all.
So, as an exercise in self-examination and a way of getting over an incredible writer's block, I submit this blog to the World Wide Web, and I submit myself to a bit of mirror gazing.
Inspired by the movie "Julie & Julia," I will blog for one year, which will include my turning fifty-five, and see what I find.
Who knows? Maybe fifty-five will be something fantastic...like the New Me.

Cockeyed Optimist

Cockeyed Optimist
There's still so much going on about the shooting in Arizona....the person responsible for it looks like a real mental case....one of the few mug shots I've seen where the perp looks absolutely proud and happy to be there.

Anger and insanity are on the rise....I see it on the streets, just walking around town.  Most folks just keep their heads down, walking full steam head....uninvolved with the world around them.  When somebody ventures a hello, they are more often than not apt to get a "F--k you," or at least a sour look.

I had somebody get up in my face and yell at me, just because I said "Good morning."

Sad...so very sad.  We have such a beautiful planet....we've been given so many beautiful things, including life itself.  But we've stirred ourselves into a frenzy through the years and it's at last coming to a head.  My prayer is that we learn from it and pull back from the brink before we go too far and destroy it all.

So that's what I'm going to do, focus on the possible rather than obsess on the negativity we're living in at the moment.  There is always a way out, all one has to do is look.

For today, Fifty Five Is The New Cockeyed Optimist....because that's what we need right now, more positivity...less stoicism.
